The VIP was none other than Pulitzer Prize winner Nikole Hannah-Jones, she wrote the book titled “The 1619 Project: A New Origin Story”. Ms. Hannah-Jones is an American investigative journalist, known for her coverage of civil rights in the United States. She joined the New York Times in April 2015 as a staff writer and was awarded a MacArthur Fellowship 2017, and won the Pulitzer Prize for Commentary in 2020 for her work on the 1619 Project. The popularity of this book skyrocketed putting Nikole Hannah-Jones in the public eye. The amount of popularity this book created a big turn out for Hannah-Jones’ book tour event in Collingswood, NJ.
